The Roloff family, known for their reality show Little People, Big World, has been struck by a series of profound losses.

Matt Roloff’s Tribute

Matt Roloff, a key figure on the show, recently honored his late father, Ronald James Roloff, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 84. On Instagram, Matt shared an emotional tribute to his father, affectionately known as “Papa” to his ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

“It has been a challenging week for the Roloffs,” Matt wrote. “This evening, my father, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, was a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an inspiration to many, and his love for Jesus was evident throughout his life, especially in his final days.”

Matt has openly discussed his father’s battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He also faced the loss of his brother, Josh Roloff, who died in 1999 at the age of 34 due to severe heart and lung issues. Despite the years that have passed, Josh’s memory continues to be cherished by his family, who named their book Little Family, Big Values in his honor.

“We miss you every day, and we hope to reunite with you in the presence of Jesus one day,” Matt wrote about his late brother.

Amy Roloff’s Loss

Matt’s ex-wife, Amy Roloff, also experienced significant grief when her mother, Patricia Knight, passed away. This loss occurred while Amy was celebrating her engagement to Chris Marek, her second husband.

In a heartfelt reflection from 2019, Amy shared, “The past two weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. Chris proposed to me, which was a joyous moment. However, soon after, I learned that my mother was hospitalized and, just days later, that she had passed away. My heart was shattered, and I was overwhelmed by sorrow.”

Isabel Roloff’s Tragedies

Isabel Roloff, Jacob Roloff’s wife, faced her own heartache with the loss of her brother, Tomás Garrenton, who tragically died in a train accident. Isabel has vowed to ensure her child knows about his uncle.

“He’ll know everything about you,” Isabel said a year ago. “You used to make me laugh during my tears. Before you passed, you created some beautiful music. My son, Uncle Tomás, will know all about you.”

Isabel also recently lost her mother, Toni Garreton, two years after her brother’s death. Reflecting on her grief, Isabel wrote on social media, “Grief is a peculiar beast. The pain can be so overwhelming that it brings you to a halt on familiar roads. The scent of her, the memories—they all come flooding back, reminding me of the deep connection we shared. This journey with her is one I will continue, missing her each time.”

The Roloff family’s journey through loss highlights their resilience and the enduring love they hold for their departed loved ones.
