Adam hadn’t visited his mother in years, having neglected her while building his own life. One day, he needed to retrieve some documents from her home, only to discover it destroyed and abandoned.

Diana Evans had raised her son Adam alone, working tirelessly to provide for him and support his education. After high school, Adam went to a university across the country in New York, leaving Diana behind in California. Despite her sadness, Diana was happy for Adam and kept in touch with him during his first few years away, though their calls became less frequent over time.

As Adam’s graduation approached, he called his mom with exciting news. “Hey, Mom!” he greeted her.

“Hi, Adam! It’s so good to hear from you! How have you been?” Diana responded, her voice filled with excitement.

“I’m good, Mom! I’m calling to invite you to my graduation in two weeks. Can you come?” he asked.

Proud and eager to attend, Diana promised to be there. However, she soon realized she didn’t have enough money for the trip and a gift for Adam. Determined, she took on extra babysitting jobs to save up. She eventually bought a plane ticket and a watch, believing it was a fitting gift for Adam’s new professional life.

Upon arriving in New York, Adam greeted Diana at the airport and took her to his graduation ceremony. Diana watched with pride as Adam received his diploma, and they celebrated with dinner at a fancy steak restaurant, where Adam treated her, using his earnings from a part-time job. Touched by his gesture, Diana gave him the watch, and Adam promised to wear it to work every day.

After a brief visit, Diana returned to California, with Adam promising to visit soon. However, his calls gradually decreased and then stopped entirely.

Years later, Adam needed documents from California for his job in New York. He flew home unannounced, hoping to retrieve them. Upon arrival, he was horrified to find their house destroyed and abandoned. Frantically, he tried calling his mother, but she didn’t answer. Desperate for answers, he went to their neighbor, Mr. Green.

Mr. Green explained that a storm had severely damaged the house, and unable to afford repairs, Diana had moved to a nursing home, not wanting to burden Adam. Overcome with guilt, Adam rushed to the nursing home, where he found his mother frail and in a wheelchair.

“Mom,” he said tearfully.

“Adam? What are you doing here?” Diana asked, surprised.

“Mom, I’m so sorry for not being there for you. I’m sorry I wasn’t around when you needed me most,” Adam said, kneeling beside her, his voice choked with emotion. Diana, though touched by his apology, gently comforted him.

“Adam, it’s okay. Stand up,” she said, trying to ease his guilt. Adam vowed never to leave her alone again. He fulfilled his promise by repairing their old home and moving Diana out of the nursing home once it was ready. He also relocated his business to California and invited his girlfriend to live with them.

From then on, they lived together happily. Adam and his girlfriend took care of Diana, ensuring her comfort and happiness, while Diana enjoyed helping around the house, cooking meals, and doing chores. Their lives were filled with love and togetherness, making up for lost time.
