Megyn Kelly has criticized Robert De Niro’s comments about the American people, stating that he is “colossally stupid.” During an episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” she discussed De Niro’s political activism and questioned its impact. Reflecting on her time at Fox News, Kelly recalled an exclusive interview where De Niro openly criticized Donald Trump for the first time during his campaign against Hillary Clinton. “We had Robert De Niro on camera in an exclusive rant about the ex-president,” Kelly said. “It was the first time he’d really come out and said how he felt about politics. And we broke that on my show.”

Kelly questioned the effectiveness of De Niro’s efforts, noting that his involvement did not prevent Trump’s victory in 2016. “So if he couldn’t make any change in 2016, why does he think he can do it now?” she asked.

Her remarks followed a press conference where De Niro expressed his love for his city and his concerns about Trump’s potential for widespread destruction. “I love this city,” De Niro said. “I don’t want to destroy it. But they will destroy not only the city but the country, and eventually he could destroy the world.”

Kelly did not mince words in her response, describing De Niro’s comments as “colossally stupid.” She suggested that if someone were to speak at a politically charged event, they should be universally beloved, which she argued De Niro is not due to his strong partisan stance. Kelly characterized him as a prime example of “Trump derangement syndrome.” Her remarks emphasized her belief that De Niro’s outspoken political views have made him an ineffective spokesperson in such contexts.
