At 98 years previous, the thirty ninth president and the oldest dwelling former president, Jimmy Carter, has left the grandeur of the White Home far behind and now lives in a modest, self-built home in rural Plains, Georgia. The 2-bedroom ranch, estimated to be value $167,000, is just a fraction of the median dwelling worth in Georgia, which is $319,431.

Carter’s frugal tendencies prolong past his dwelling, as he enjoys easy pleasures comparable to eating along with his neighbors on paper plates and ingesting bargain-brand wine.

Jimmy Carter chooses to shop at his local Dollar General store and fly commercially, despite having the means to afford private transportation.

Most of Jimmy Carter’s income is generated from his writing, which includes a children’s book. Although he receives an annual pension of $221,400, as is customary for former presidents, along with allowances for travel and office space, he donates the majority of his earnings to charitable causes.
