Mark Wahlberg Shares Importance of Faith in Achieving Career Success
In a recent interview with “Today,” actor Mark Wahlberg discussed how his Catholic beliefs have been a driving force in his career success. Despite Hollywood’s lack of emphasis on religion, Wahlberg has remained steadfast in sharing the value of faith with others.
Wahlberg stated that when he made the transition from music to movies, he needed “discipline” to succeed. He found that faith was one of the best ways to achieve it. “That discipline has afforded me so many other things,” Wahlberg said. “I want to share that with people.”
For Wahlberg, faith is everything. He believes that it has allowed him to become a better version of himself. “God didn’t come to save the saints,” he explained. “He came to save the sinners…We want to be better versions of ourselves, and through focusing my faith, it’s allowed me to do that.”
Despite the challenges he faces as a professional actor, Wahlberg does not deny his faith. He acknowledges that it is important to respect and honor people of all faiths and religions. “It’s a balance,” he said. “I don’t want to jam it down anybody’s throat, but I do not deny my faith.”
Wahlberg’s faith has often guided his acting career. He has turned down roles that conflicted with his religious values, such as his breakout role in “Boogie Nights.” Wahlberg has also invested “millions and millions” of his own money to produce his upcoming religious drama “Father Stu,” which tells the true story of an amateur boxer who becomes a Catholic priest while suffering from a debilitating disease.
Despite Hollywood’s apprehension over faith-based material, Wahlberg remains committed to sharing the value of faith with others. His upcoming projects include “Arthur the King” with Simu Liu and “Our Man from Jersey” with Halle Berry.
