Bruce Willis, the Die Hard superstar, was diagnosed with aphasia earlier this year, a degenerative disease that his family made public. This news was both shocking and distressing to many.
Recently, Sylvester Stallone, a longtime friend of Willis and fellow Expendables cast member, spoke out about his peer. Stallone described Willis as being “incommunicado” ever since the diagnosis, and he expressed sadness at not being able to communicate with his friend.
Stallone and Willis became acquainted years ago through their mutual involvement with Planet Hollywood in 1991. They both starred in the Expendables film franchise in 2010, but reportedly began feuding while filming the sequel. However, they eventually repaired their relationship over the years and often spoke kindly of one another in the press and online.
In March 2022, Willis and his family announced that the actor would be retiring from acting due to a diagnosis of aphasia, a cognitive disorder that impairs a person’s ability to express and comprehend language. Willis has been staying out of the public eye since the announcement, and reports suggest that he isn’t leaving the house much and is “trapped” in his own mind.
Willis’s wife, Emma, and their children are doing all they can to take care of him, but things aren’t easy for her either. Speaking with The Bump in May, Emma explained that caring for everyone in the household has taken a toll on her own health. She emphasized the importance of finding something that makes you feel good and building from there, as it’s crucial to take care of yourself even when caring for others.
