A 3-Year-Old Child Was Rescued from a California Apartment Pool by a 7-Year-Old
It is not every day that we hear about children performing heroic acts. However, when a 7-year-old boy from Sacramento, California, was swimming with his relatives in their apartment complex pool, he noticed something unusual that shocked everyone around him.
In an unexpected turn of events, the young boy spotted a 3-year-old child floating motionless at the bottom of the six-foot-deep pool, with eyes and mouth open. Without hesitation, the 7-year-old boy sprang into action, displaying an extraordinary level of bravery and selflessness that surprised even the adults present at the scene.
Massiah Browne, the young boy who lived with his mom and brother in the apartment complex, quickly alerted his nine-year-old relative, Savannah, about the toddler’s plight. Massiah then dove into the pool and pulled the child to the surface by grasping his arms and swimming to the top. Savannah then helped bring the toddler to the side of the pool, where they caught the attention of others who performed CPR on the child and called for medical help.
“It’s just crazy that he’s seven years old doing things like that.”
The 3-year-old boy was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but thankfully survived the ordeal. Massiah’s mother, Tiara Delvalle, was incredibly proud of her son’s bravery and quick thinking, noting that he learned how to swim when he was a toddler. Massiah’s father, Marcus Browne, an Olympic boxer, was also stunned by his son’s heroism, emphasizing the importance of swimming skills in saving lives.
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children under four years old in the United States. Parents can take essential steps to keep their children safe around pools and bathtubs, such as always supervising children and installing fences around pools. It is vital for children to learn how to swim at a young age, as demonstrated by Massiah’s life-saving skills.
In summary, Massiah’s heroic act demonstrates that children can be brave and selfless in times of crisis, providing a lesson for adults to learn from.
