Losing a young life is undoubtedly one of the most tragic events that can occur. Unfortunately, this was the case for the family of Locklyn and Loreli, twin toddlers who drowned in their family’s pool at home in Oklahoma City.
The incident occurred when the twins’ great-grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s, left the rear door of the house open. The children sneaked away unnoticed and were later found unconscious at the bottom of the pool by their mother, Jenny Callazzo.
Despite efforts to revive them, both Locklyn and Loreli were pronounced dead two hours later. The family is devastated by the loss, and a GoFundMe account has been set up to help with medical bills and funeral expenses.
This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of young children playing near water. Laura Gamino, the injury prevention coordinator for trauma at OU Health, urges parents and caretakers to take measures such as building high fences around pools and gates that children cannot open.
Our hearts go out to the family during this difficult time, and we join in praying for their strength and comfort.
