If you’re a concert-goer, you know the anticipation of seeing your favorite band or musician live. Obtaining tickets in advance or finding them at a premium only adds to the excitement.
Like many fans, you probably countdown the days until the big event. Illness can put a damper on plans, which was the case for Theresa Shaw, who was battling stage three breast cancer when she planned to attend Garth Brooks’ concert at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Despite having chemotherapy on the morning of the concert, Shaw was determined to attend. During his performance of “The Dance,” Brooks noticed Shaw’s sign that read “CHEMO THIS MORNING. GARTH TONIGHT. ENJOYING THE DANCE.” Brooks approached her, sat on the stage, held her hands, and kissed her while singing the song. Brooks gave Shaw his guitar in exchange for her sign and encouraged her to fight cancer with all her strength.
Shaw’s cancer went into remission, and she celebrated by attending another Garth Brooks concert, where her sign read “I KICKED CANCER’S A__. STILL ENJOYING THE DANCE!” Brooks’ fans adore him for his kindness, and this story is no exception. What do you think of Garth Brooks’ actions? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
