Meet Adele Julie Thompson, a remarkable 107-year-old woman from South Carolina who has lived through some of the most significant moments in American history.
To celebrate her long life, family and friends organized a birthday parade in her honor, showing their appreciation for her.
But what’s the secret to her longevity?
According to Adele, it’s simple: “I do what the Bible tells me to do.”
Born on October 10, 1915, in Santee, Orangeburg County, South Carolina, Adele never left her birthplace, spending over 100 years in the same area. She has seen the city undergo major transformations, from riding mules and horses to driving cars. She picked cotton with her brothers on the family farms and later worked as a substitute teacher in the 1930s.
Adele got married to Eddie Thompson in 1940 and has a large family, including three children, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She can recall the 18 US presidencies she lived through, World War II, and even the stock market crash of 1929. Adele was also amazed to see Barack Obama become president, saying, “I never dreamed I would see this.”
Adele’s secret to a long and healthy life is her devotion to God. She believes in doing what the Bible tells her to do and intends to remain faithful until her last breath. Her life is truly inspiring, and we congratulate her on her historic birthday.
