Jack Nicholson, the celebrated film actor known for his iconic performances in The Shining, Chinatown, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, has also been a regular presence at Lakers games in Los Angeles.
The three-time Oscar winner has been a well-known fixture courtside, often attending the most important games.
However, Nicholson has been absent from public life in recent years and had not been seen at a Lakers game in over a year. That all changed when he made a rare public appearance at the Lakers’ playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Nicholson returned to his regular courtside seat with his son to the delight of fans who gave him a warm welcome back.
The 86-year-old actor, who retired from Hollywood films in 2010, made few public appearances these days, leading to concerns about his health. Paparazzi photos taken outside his home in Beverly Hills last month sparked worries after some outlets described him as looking “disheveled” and “unrecognizable.” However, many fans defended him, saying he looked good for his age.
Before the Lakers game, Nicholson was greeted by NBA superstar LeBron James. Perhaps it was thanks to their most famous superfan cheering them on, but the Lakers dominated the game, clinching the series.
Nicholson has been a devoted Lakers fan for decades, first getting season tickets back in 1970. He would even adjust his shooting schedule to attend big games. The actor has long been a staple of Lakers home games, appearing courtside with his signature sunglasses. After a long absence, fans were thrilled to see Jack back again.
