This grand complex showcases a captivating blend of architectural styles, representing the rich legacy of Portuguese art over the centuries. Its original construction dates back to the early 18th century, marking the beginning of its storied history.

Throughout the ensuing decades, ownership of the palace changed hands among different families, each leaving their distinctive mark on the structure and enhancing its interior. The result is a mesmerizing display of highly detailed ornaments and exquisite frescoes that adorn every room.

In the 20th century, the palace transitioned into state ownership and underwent a transformation to serve public purposes. For an extended period, it functioned as a scientific institute, welcoming numerous professors and students within its walls. However, as time passed, the institute relocated, leaving the palace without a new designated purpose.

Regrettably, the once-vibrant palace now grapples with a slow decline, both in its interior and exterior. The fading grandeur of this historical gem serves as a poignant reminder of the need for thoughtful preservation and revitalization efforts to ensure its enduring legacy for future generations.
